Rowdy Yates is a second-generation broadcaster, born in Texas and raised in some of the greatest radio stations-ever. Son of legendary news journalist and frequent Paul Harvey substitute, Joe Holstead, Rowdy’s radio travels have taken him to garden spots such as Oklahoma City, New Orleans, Houston, Tulsa, and Dallas; with stops in “B-towns” including Bryan, Bridgeport, and Brady.
He began his career at the age of 15, running the church tapes at Denton’s KDNT, near his hometown of Ft. Worth. [His Mom had to drive him to work every Sunday morning.] Yates’ resume reads like a who’s-who of impressive call letters where he has served primarily as air personality, but over the years has applied his talents to web design, social networking, promotions, marketing, programming and operations. KVOO, KTST, KILT, KIKK.
Rowdy has been the long-running host of The Original Country Gold – a weekend institution that is heard on 94.1KFKF every Saturday night from 7pm-12am!
