Hello Kansas City! I’m Erika Jay and I’m so excited to spend my nights with you.
“Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” That’s the motto I’ve been living by for the past 15 years. My radio career has taken me from my little hometown in New Castle, PA to Youngstown, OH, Pittsburgh, Wilmington, Delaware, and here in Kansas City.
I grew up listening to country music when I was a kid in the 90’s. My Dad loved Garth Brooks, Alabama, and Clint Black to name a few. I can vividly remember riding around in his yellow pickup truck and changing out the CDs. My current favorites are Morgan Wallen, Chris Stapleton, and Kelsea Ballerini.
I’m married and have a 20-year-old daughter who is in college studying to become a physician assistant. She’s my best friend and my concert buddy and I’m so proud to be her Mom. We have 2 rescue pups, Lucky and Sunny.
When I’m not working or spending time with my family, I’m either dreaming of the beach or scrolling social media. Find me there @erika_on_the_radio!

First concert you ever went to?
New Kids on The Block! That was before cell phones, so sadly I don’t have any photographic evidence! My first country concert was Rascal Flatts with Taylor Swift as an opener!
Something listeners would be surprised to know about you?
I was in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade! I was a cheerleader almost my entire school career from 5th grade through senior year of college. I was cheer captain my senior year of high school and selected at a UCA camp to cheer in the Macy’s parade. It was one of the best experiences of my life!
What song do you never get tired of playing?
Anything by Kenny Chesney, but Summertime is my absolute favorite! That and Man, I Feel Like a Woman by Shania Twain!
What is your dream vacation?
I am a beach goer, but haven’t been out of the country much. Iceland and Ireland are very high on my bucket list. Iceland to see the Northern Lights and Blue Lagoon, and Ireland to tour the castles and countryside!
Favorite local charity?
I love the Make a Wish Foundation. One of my friends in high school was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and he was granted a wish. He chose to have a new computer system put in his house. I’ve loved and supported the organization ever since!
Who is your favorite artist at the moment?
I have 2! Ella Langley because I cannot get enough of her raspy voice and that southern twang! And Tucker Wetmore. Mark my words – he is the next big thing!
What is your ideal weekend?
It really depends on the time of year. If it’s nice out, I love to be outside. Whether that’s poolside at my parents house, or working on projects at home with my husband. We love to dine out on Saturday’s then come home to catch up on our favorite shows. My daughter is in college, so I also try to see her as often as she’ll let me!
Any pets?
I have 2 rescue pups! Both are beagle mixes. Lucky who is about 14 and Sunny who is 8.
